How weak is their god if one guy can drop a curse that the entire room needs to work together to undo? That pastor must not be at 5th level or he could have dropped a dispel magic without all the fuss. DND magic users > god.

This isn't my area of expertise or whatnot but I somehow doubt that a low-rent town council composed of bumbling roadwaffles can unilaterally reverse a curse once it's laid down by the Big Guy Downstairs. Especially one that was delivered with such eloquence and...well, accuracy.
