The US whateverth amendment. "The right of the people to the observance of public holidays, being necessary to the tranquility and repose of a free State, shall not be abridged on account of such holiday falling upon a weekend, but shall in every such case devolve upon the Friday next preceding."

and then there's a huge controversy if "next" on "next preceding" means "before/close" or "after" because it's not clear anymore, and nobody can change the wording because that would make god angry.
