Young people are falling out of love with technology. They want it and need it, sure, but they also hate it, feel enslaved by it and, unlike any other generation, long for the past, writes Jemima Kelly. Read @jemima.bsky.social in today's FT Edit 👉 ft.trib.al/miFZSMp

Young people are falling out of love with technology Lại 1 slogan không có thực Khiến tôi nhớ đến 1 câu chuyện được nghe lúc nhỏ Chuyện kể Ông tiều phu vác gánh củi nặng nhọc vất vả, ngữa mặt nhìn trời hét: Thần chết đến đón ta đi cho xong Thần chết hiện ra: Ngươi cần gì Tiều phu run cầm cập: ... 😀

Not just young people feeling like that. I think all ages groups are growing sick of tech in every aspect of life and the de-humaning of almost everything.

Technology is fine but those who control it aren't. We are being forced to use it when there is no need. Our choice is being eroded. It should be a beneficial "aid" but it is being used to manipulate and control us. Also to cut costs and reduce staff. It excludes those of us to refuse to comply.

I say the above as someone who has used computing since the seventies and who is still "au fait" with most of it BUT I like to be be able to choose how and when to use the technology. That's the biggest issue now.

I've been saying this to my friends and family members humans are not built in a way to love tech this much, we need reality and nature what goes up must come down, I'll be happy to see the iPhone loss its grip on the world

Indeed Gen Z enter bars, pubs, coffee shops & cafes and bow their head in front of devices. In the 60s & 70s the baby boomers entered pubs etc and likely met ppl esp the opposite sex or made new mates.

Anybody... ANYBODY... who longs for the past that they were not alive for doesn't long for the past - they long for an imaginary utopia that likely never existed. But... We don't have to be enslaved to algorithmic social media. It's easy to do away with that. Simply... stop using it.
