Amazon employee friend told me everyone there hates AI and sees no value in it. They just "use" it because they're forced to. When Amazon recently unleashed AI to optimize their AWS code and the AI deleted the code and AWS was down for 2 or 3 days, he and all the employees around him laughed.

They destroy rare books because they are rare and don’t want competitors to be able to gain access to their content.

HATE AI. I can understand the idea of scanning books BUT... why destroy them????? Why.

Name one of those ‘rare’ books

Heaven forbid that anyone but well paid ‘scholars’ with the means to visit academic research libraries around the world gain access to these ‘rare’ (ie hard to find) books

That feels so wrong when there are still people who would happily read them.
