Birdigo was created and designed by @johnaugust.bsky.social (Big Fish, Corpse Bride) and developed by @toboggan.work (Bonfire Peaks, Tire Boy). The two met after John put out a call for a game dev collaborator on his screenwriting podcast Scriptnotes.

John wanted to adapt his physical word game AlphaBirds into a Slay the Spire/Balatro-like single player experience. Corey got in touch and, in spite of having played neither Slay the Spire nor Balatro, convinced John he was the person for the job.
