You've tried to solve the data fragmentation by adding yet another database. It's like creating another group chat to replace the five group chats you already have. Now you have six group chats.

All this does is change a technical problem into a social one. You can't legislate shared norms at scale. Every attempt to unify into a single system just creates another competing standard. I’m sure this sounds familiar :)

Most databases were designed for a world where your application architecture and data model stay relatively stable. But guess what? That world doesn't exist anymore.

We now have software as easy to produce as a document. Think of the half-built spreadsheet your team actually relies on. The doc that became the real source of truth. That gap was always there. Agentic work is just making it impossible to ignore.

What if you just changed the frame? Instead of "create the master system everyone conforms to" we frame the problem as "connect and reconcile data from wherever it already lives."
