Nebraska, Iowa, and Maine 👀

If you wanted to design a policy to hurt Trump voters in particular, a diesel fuel price increase would be very effective. Three states - WY, ND, AK - even use more diesel than gasoline. Details by state; not all use is paid for by residents of course: www.eia.gov/dnav/pet/pet...

Hey North Dakota, Wyoming and Alaska, did you vote for this? This amounts an over $2300 PER PERSON increase in price in these 3 states based on 20 barrels per year per person from Jan 2025. 9/26 - $270.90 1/25 - $152.46 = + $118.44 x20 gal = $2368.80 per person per year PER PERSON!!!!!!!!!

Off topic for US readers but for wider context - Fuel prices in the UK now: Petrol/gas $10.95/gallon Diesel $12.18/gallon Up from around $7-8 in May. And before any bright spark witters about North Sea fields, Thatcher sold them decades ago. Help reserves, possibly. Prices, no.

So in Maine the pain is going to be a lot more widely distributed among poor elderly voters, etc. Compared to say Wyoming where it is probably mostly big farmers, ranchers, mining operations, etc. using most of the diesel.

Heating oil is also diesel (just taxed differently) and heavily used in New England. I barely drive, have solar for electric, and buy oil through a collective, but my heating oil budget plan has still gone up $300 a month, and is pretty likely to spike further.
