As hospitals across the country cave to the Trump administration’s threats to cut federal funding and abandon trans youth, actor Elliot Page speaks out. In New York City, NYU Langone, Mount Sinai, and NewYork-Presbyterian abruptly ended care for trans kids in response to these threats.

NYU Langone and Mount Sinai recently reached settlements with Trump’s DOJ to end care for trans kids for years to come, pay millions of dollars in penalties, and even establish a fund for “detransition” efforts—using the same coercive logic as conversion therapy.

What’s worse is that their doctors still believe in this healthcare. But hospital administrators chose to abandon trans kids and their families rather than stand up to political attacks. But healthcare is about caring for people—not caving to politicians.
