Can someone explain the hugbox rules here? Ie is this like twitter a few years ago where there are verboten things and I can get disappeared if citizens report me to the secret police, or is it more nuanced as this system is supposed to be one where users choose their filters?

You can’t get disappeared. Content can be flagged, and feeds, might downrank that content/users can hide things with certain labels, but the official Bluesky labels at least are on posts, not accounts

Ok thanks, so users can hide posts based on voting on stuff now? Is that where the “intolerant” thing I was seeing screenshots comes from? Are those posts nuked or can you still read them?

There’s a set of default labels that come from the Bluesky team, using a classic algorithmic labeller + some manual labeling. Anyone can make a custom labeler though, and you can subscribe to it You can still read labeled posts
