Completely agree with @miawong.bsky.social here. There were multiple videos out of Villegas Gonzalez’s murder the same day he was killed that contradicted ICE’s claims. bsky.app/profile/gbro...

Obviously some of what happened is obscured, but again, what we’re looking for is Villegas-Gonzalez driving his car AT an officer, an officer being hit and then dragged, and that same officer then shooting Villegas-Gonzalez. Is it possible that all happened off camera? Source links in next post.

Unfortunately it‘s also connected to color I think. For many people there’s a difference between a Silverio Villegas Gonzales and a Renee Good or Alex Pretti, and if it’s only subconscious. Alex Pretti being a white, male, straight (afaik), 2A exercising ICU nurse working with veterans is the worst

There's an inertia to this. It takes time to get attention, and to change a narrative. Normally people think the authorities are in the right. It's what we're usually taught from birth, because that's what society wants. A stable supply of orderly and compliant workers.

Once that narrative begins changing course over successive counterexamples, it's harder and harder for people to bury their heads in the sand and pretend reality reflects the story. Once the illusion is broken, people tend to be immunized for life against that illusion being remade.
