While many of the people sent to EG have no convictions, Ahmed Soliman has a felony conviction, which he has been open about and which I say in the story. Please allow into your minds that “felons” still deserve due process and human rights that is worth getting on the barricades to uphold.

If we get to the justice and reparations phase and I hand over all my data and y’all decide we’re only gonna bring the people with no convictions back, I’m gonna be so fucking pissed, I cannot even tell you. If you respect my work, respect my view that we need to invite EVERYONE back.

The only reason I myself am not a “convicted felon” is because when I committed a serious violent crime I was under 18, white, and my family could afford a lawyer. I didn’t do anything to “deserve” the chances to move on that I got. Everyone deserves them.

Right. I did something really stupid when I was younger but it's long since been expunged. Whereas, a friend of mine who is married to a US citizen had his appeal thrown out and has been in detention for over a year, and DHS cites a "tinted window" ticket as evidence of him being a criminal...

Even if someone is convicted of a felony as an adult - if they served their time, they've been punished enough. The average American desire to keep punishing people for the rest of their lives endangers us all.
