AI detection is literally just AI, checking for AI. Taking all we know about how reliable, trustworthy and accurate AI is, are we all shocked that the AI checking tools are giving false positives and not effective at all?

Yeah I stopped using them to detect AI in student writing and just relied on my own knowledge of how students write. There are still plenty of tells that clearly mark something as AI, especially when it comes from a 15 year old.

short of creating hidden text in the assignment brief that tells AI to do something funky like mention gatorade, I think that it's the only way outside of that, paper and pen in person is how I'd go about it
