Do you have a fingerprint reader? In GNOME 51 we improved the user interface for managing fingerprints, and now adding, removing or even storing multiple different fingerprints is easier than ever. Note: this feature isn't limited to smartphones! #FOSS #OpenSource #FreeSoftware #FLOSS

not sure who's cup of tea it is, but I have the issue that if I use my laptop docked and have the lid closed, and I run anything that required authentication, it still asks me for my fingerprint... even though my laptop is closed... especially annoying with sudo and shit

I guess there needs to be a way to specify when the fingerprint is available per hardware model; some laptops have the reader on the side, so just disabling when the screen is closed is not a reliable signal. 🤔

The thing is, when the lid is closed, you are very likely to use an external keyboard and mice, meaning the laptop is already likely to be in an very unconvincing spot on the desk (or floor) to reach anyway

and currently, it is so bad that I rather do nit register any finger prints at all, as the pain is greater than it's usefullness.. sadly..
