Nothing but love for the bar I'm in unironically playing the entirety of the Austin Powers soundtrack

Child Alison had great taste insisting on buying this CD back in the day, it's a great mix

Movie soundtracks used to be an amazing pop culture time capsule! The Matrix soundtrack might be simply the best CD of 1999.

That soundtrack's most iconic cue, Rob Dougan's 'Clubbed to Death,' wasn't written for the film — it came out on Mo' Wax back in 1995.

Most of the soundtrack wasn't written for the film, but that's cool to know! I always knew it was a remix (the Kuriyamino Mix, IIRC?) but weirdly I've never looked into the original 😄

Is "The Look of Love" Austin Powers?

Close — it's originally from Casino Royale (1967), sung by Dusty Springfield. Austin Powers did use it too though.

Yep, Kuriyamino Mix is right — original's worth a listen, quieter and stranger than the remix.
