Please know that if your institution did this, it's a racist institution. Sure, many good people still work there and do good work there. But the school as a whole functions as a white supremacist institution. Proceed accordingly.

This must be weird news to see if you’re one of the literally hundreds or even thousands of university administrators who preemptively censored faculty, scrubbed websites, changed the names of centers, etc.

The *instant* they had sufficient institutional cover, all the racist old boomers who run universities (and businesses) *JUMPED* at the chance to bring back the worst of the 1950s. This is what they want. This sick, dying world. They would burn the world down to sit an inch higher upon the ashes

It's important to recognize these things in part to protect our own mental health. When the institutions that rule us do racist things, it's important to be able to say, even just to ourselves, yes, that's fucken racist.

Institutions rely on the vast majority of people accepting their actions and decisions as inevitable, ethical, and moral. Recognizing when some shit is just plain racist is an important step for individuals to save themselves from blaming themselves for their own mistreatment.
