Hundreds of protestors march from the site where an ICE agent shot a father in the Bronx on 10/8 to the hospital where he was being held. Defund and abolish ICE. Chinga la migra. 🧵 of photos...

A couple of pointed gestures.

Cops split the protestors, setting up barricades on either side of the entrance to the hospital where the victim of the ICE shooting was being held.

The other half of the protestors behind the other line of barricades.

@dianaforqueens.com and @votejgr.bsky.social marched and chanted with the protestors. Lots of anger and grief and passion from all the protestors, including the electeds.

Assembly member Marcela Mitaynes always shows up.

Chaotic moment as cops and protestors wrestle for barricades. Shortly after this, @darializaforny.bsky.social was knocked to the ground after putting herself between cops and protestors.

@darializaforny.bsky.social after being knocked to the ground.

Intense moment as @jumaane.bsky.social @advocate.nyc.gov tries to deescalate.

Many, many cops were on the scene.

Chant leader given a moment of glory by the cop car lights.

During the press conference at the site of the shooting before the march. Yaritza Mendez of @maketheroadny.bsky.social was moved to tears as she spoke.

Donna Lieberman of the @nyclu.org speaking at the press conference.

State Assembly member Manny De Los Santos, city council member Pierina Ana Sanchez, and state senator Gustavo Rivera.

But US rep Adriano Espaillat was roundly booed by the crowd when he spoke. Not in this clip, but someone yelled "YOU VOTED FOR ICE!"

@jumaane.bsky.social @advocate.nyc.gov saying that New York does not need ICE even one tiny bit. He also said "Fuck everybody who believes that this is what's supposed to be happening. There is nothing happening here that has to do with public safety AT ALL."
