I really like the point made here: Dems should be making a public case right now for novel tactics like defunding Trump's corrupt prosecutions, to make them more intelligible later:

Democrats laying the groundwork for real opposition, with Congress asserting budget authority to stand against Trump abuses and rights violations. Will have to overcome cries that not passing Trump's budget is irresponsible. But it's the opposite. And starting now makes that hurdle easier to clear.

If Dems want any presidential candidate to gain momentum, the party must show they have a spine. Dems have been incremental in the past and must show they have learned they must be aggressive. The base is still waiting to see fight, and they must show it if they gain power

Put a hold on Supreme Court funding put a hold on executive office funding go after all the rescissions made by Vought controlling the $$ is key to controlling the actions and taking back power to the people

The basic concept of laying the groundwork for future actions is foreign to Democrats. It isn’t that they are bad at it. The problem is that they make no effort and do not appear to grasp the fundamental concept of sculpting public perceptions.

Yep, they let the gop dictate all stories and then have to be reactionary. Even when it's true, saying "nu-uh" to every accusation is not a winning message. Need to set the tone now and push them on their heels going into voting.

The practical case is that appropriations are one of Congress’s clearest checks on executive abuse. Democrats should name the abusive functions they’d block and explain how that protects due process—not just frame it as opposition.
