I have an ORCiD and I'm not a researcher, so yeah, the signal is v weak on its own. They have trust-layer services but nothing definitive.

Yep, your thread captures the approach we're going with, as set out in the 2nd layer post: transparency about accuracy, layered trust signals, etc. blog.aster.place/3mwqlbu2q3c2b What I didn't know until this week is that @sifa.id is pursuing the same idea. Sharing trust signals would be brilliant!

Jup: for @sifa.id, your CV + your (online) activity is "just" the foundation/jumping off point for building trust & reputation layers for human accounts. And yeah, once those layers are on-protocol, we can all share them!
