i think td leans a lot more "pro software" than the likes of DAWs or even nonlinear video editors. it's made for people who use it to make money, the art kids haven't discovered it yet so there's not much demand for libre stuff

yeah I kinda have similar thoughts, I think you'd find a more ethical/open community around anything like GEM, cables.gl, vvvv, coollab, hydra, etc etc etc but my impression is you're also in this for work, and it's very rare to see job-jobs with any of those except in fine arts or education spaces

because right now I can't find any normal people who are disgusted by ai and want to build a space to communicate and create rather than to sell things they make (or don't make lmao the amount of vibe coding actually fucking sickens me)
