Had Miyamoto died in 1998, his achievements would have been immortal. Had he died in 2013, he would still have been a great man but flawed. But he is still alive and complaining about movie critics. Alas, what can one say?

I think mainly what this tells us is that folks inside Nintendo would rather Miyamoto be saying stupid shit to the press than being placed anywhere near developing a video game.

Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away. - James 4:14 KJV

I just... Want to know what this MEANS. Is this a mistranslation? Has miyamoto been eating some wild propaganda? Like what the fuck does this MEAN dude

I think he's referring to the JP film industry mainly, since he also took the time to brag about how they rewrote the script in JP instead of localizing the english. (???)

this is how every single rich investor that enters a new field talks like their entrance and IP is some kind of beneficial gift to the world lol

Absolutely crazed thing for him to say about the concept of film!!! And that's before we get to the part where critics giving his movie bad reviews are preventing the film industry from flourishing

look, his gift of mario has made billions for the universal corporation he’s basically a philanthropist keeping theatre and theme park workers fed

since streaming started gobbling up the theatrical audience there's sometimes a trend where any one outlier that makes a bunch of money at the box office is "revitalizing the industry" for doing it. "people are going back to the movies!"
