Democrat Juliana Stratton and Republican Don Tracy just faced off in their sole debate to replace Dick Durbin. They clashed over immigration, the economy, and the future of the country. Here are some of the key moments you need to see 👇🧵

Illinois GOP U.S. Senate nominee Don Tracy says "the jury's still out" on if Donald Trump's tariffs are working. Dem nominee Juliana Stratton says SCOTUS already decided they're illegal and says she'll work to get the refunds to real Illinoisans instead of corporations.

Illinois GOP Senate nominee Don Tracy says Operation Midway Blitz was chaotic only because Chicago wasn't "cooperative." "Immigration interior enforcement has actually gone pretty well in other places ... because the local authorities cooperated, just like they used to in Chicago."

Illinois GOP Senate nominee Don Tracy wrongly calls the four people killed by ICE this year — Renee Good, Alex Pretti, Lorenzo Salgado Araujo and Joan Sebastian Guerrero — "four illegal immigrants, probably the worst of the worst, resisting arrest."

none of my grandparents (paternal & maternal) ever went to college which is all I know. My parents, uncle and aunt finished high school. Only sibs, cousins and I all have college degrees. My mom had 5 years of education but she read to me from books!

No ICE agent in the entire history of the agency has ever been killed by an immigrant on the streets of USA... Not one. So, what does a republican do? Conflate, lie, or reveal their ignorance.

Juliana Stratton on education: "My grandmother had an eighth grade education. My grandfather had a sixth grade education. And because they focused on education with their children, now their granddaughter is running to represent the state of Illinois in the United States Senate."

My grandfather had a sixth grade education, went to work at 12 circa 1914 after his hod carrier dad died at 37, drove a cab, longshoremen then NYPD, homicide detective then Detective Lieutenant. Even had a B movie made about him. 3 kids went to grad school. My aunts (b 1941) were programmers. .
