I don’t have a copy of Gloria Steinem’s autobiography My Life on the Road, but The Miami Herald noted that she openly admitted being an asset for the CIA uscpublicdiplomacy.org/blog/feminis... her role was to redirect the feminist movement away from class warfare to be anti-socialist. She succeeded.

I also do not have access to the February 18 1967 edition of the Washington Post where she (apparently) originally copped to working with the CIA. But the goal was to divert feminism off anti-capitalism, which does account for why there was a schism with Black Liberation: her job was to thwart that.
