But we just couldn’t wait to highlight some of the exciting people who are taking part this year, so for the next few weeks we’ll be showcasing some of this year’s competition participants. First up is Eloise Harding, Senior Teaching Fellow in Politics at the University of Southampton.

How do you actually describe your job to people at a dinner party? I teach a variety of topics and sometimes research how students react to them. Why did you enter the Competition? To help make the education pathway more visible and highlight the importance of roles such as mine in academia.

What do you hope people take away from your entry? That being on the education pathway is more than a starter job or consolation prize. Where will you put your trophy if you win? In my office between my ornamental ducks.
