In the 70s people thought personal computers were a waste of money and wouldn't ever do anything useful except for some beep boop parlor tricks. That's where we are with the AI discourse right now

The discourse isn’t simply about whether they are useful. The main criticism is AI that wastes an inordinate amount of natural resources, not just money, compared to the use we get out of them.
