i saw you looking at ATOM, bsky.app/profile/iame... not to pour on a million other degrees of complexity, but... i'd love to make sure s2pa and/or muxl to nicely with regular MoQT too. have you looked at those at all? kixelated is _super_ responsive on discord, fwiw; nice guy. moq.dev#learn-more

moq.devMedia over QUICMedia over QUIC is a new live media protocol designed for simplicity and scale. It uses new browser technologies like WebTransport and WebCodecs to deliver media (and arbitrary data) with latency that...

Fun stream. Still wrapping my head around the idea of native MOQ support for atproto. I can't make a call on the feasibility but the idea that we could have ONE protocol for atproto sync data and video and audio is incredibly appealing. Nothing out-of-band. VOD: youtu.be/0u5iAX3AfTM

hoping ATOM wet your whistle a bit for MoQT. i dabbled a little with writing a MoQT server and found it so easy, the group/object idea is so powerful, and adding an extension to add some metadata to objects was so easy. everything made so much sense. hoping maybe s2pa / muxl can fit nicely!

ooh yeah I’ll stop by the Discord but I think I’m definitely all-in. I hadn’t even considered that there might be one protocol for everything atproto including livestreams

I don't completely understand all this yet but what I do understand sounds like magic. It feels like video becoming first class citizens of the web. Given the dasl stuff, are there implications in relation to tiles? Or is this a completely separate thing? Also, is this how vods and clips happen?

Nice to see provenance and content-addressing tackled together. Practical tip: sign at capture/export, keep the manifest with the media, and verify on ingest so reposts preserve attribution and edits.

Yeah! Which is a new paradigm — we’re stuck in a world of “strip EXIF metadata in case it doxxes a user’s location”. Need better tooling

yep! i talk about all of this stuff for "video" 'cause that's harder but anything that solves it for video works for audio-only too

S2PA is a standardization of "Streamplace-flavored C2PA" that we've had in production for more than a year. C2PA has some great ideas about media provenance but the part where you pay Digicert hundreds of dollars to sign media is antiquated. Instead: K-256 signing, dids, decentralized identity.

MUXL aims to extend content addressing to media containers: it's like DRISL for MP4 files. Ever tried to concatenate two MP4 files and then split them, recovering the same two files you started with? I have. It's really hard. We're solving the problem with a canonical standard, Rust, and WASM.

Taken together, the two standards make media a first-class primitive in the decentralized social web. You get a path to creator provenance, decentralized distribution, and remixing of content. Video is the richest way for us to interact, we shouldn't be treating them as detached, opaque blobs!
