GMing is great! I'm playtesting a module with my local RPG club. I was worried that I didn't know if the players would ever find a way around the exact situation I wanted them to be in. Luckily I'm not the one that needs to come up with solutions, and a player had a really smart way around ...

Praise Mboikangue has a gimmick that PCs can accidentally (or not so much) become a part of a cult. If they drink poisoned alcohol, for example, they get a handout that welcomes them to this sacrificial cult and gives them some guidelines of what that means. ...

So we had 3 players that became cultists, and 2 that weren't. They just got set up as sacrifices by an NPC that was supposed to be the one sacrificed and was allegedly helping them out. The room was full of lizardfolk that would be furious if they squirmed out of being sacrificed. ...

The wizard noticed that while handling the catnip, he didn't have to roll CON to not get poisoned, so he took a bunch ...

Back at the sacrificial altar, the wizard declares that where they come from, it is a custom to eat this leaf before an important event, so he serves catnip to all PCs and Lizardfolk in the room. They all eat it and it cuts the poison that made them part of the cult. The snakefolk priests go mad...

The Lizardfolk that took the catnip were also poisoned, and now they are siding with the PCs to face the snakefolk priests that poisoned them. The party went to "we are all going to be sacrificed" to having an army of Lizardfolk to overthrow the Slithering God and its servants
