No one ever talks about how deeply involved in your dog’s butt hole you have to be. Maybe people should talk about that

Sometimes a little pulling to finish the job, too. How he managed to pass what turned to be seven inches through his digestive tract is a mystery for the ages. But Ernie was also a 110 pound English Mastiff/Plott Hound mix who lived to be 15 and eight months. Miracle baby.

I have absolutely pulled my wife's hair out of the wrong end of the dog. Happens pretty regularly and commonly attaches two turds together. We refer to that as dungchuks

Every one of my PitMutts over the last 30+ years has been obsessed with eating paper. Not chewing on books, mind you, but shredding and devouring birthday cards and tax returns and car titles and recipes my grandmother wrote down in the 1950s left on the desk unattended for six seconds.

I had a doxie as a kid, and he ate tinsel off of the tree. Results as expected. At least we knew which string to pull. He lived to 16, so maybe dogs *should* eat tinsel.

Wow over 15 is amazing, for a large breed dog. We had a 13 1/2 year old Bernese. And I have to confess I first read that as 11.0 lb dog. And thought that can’t be right, no mastiff could be that small! 🤣

He had to go to the vet for nail trims because it literally took three people to hold him down while a fourth did the actual trim. Every month during those last couple of years the vet would say, "How the hell is that dog still alive and how is he still so strong?" [See alt text if you want.]

AltText warmed my heart. I also had an Ernie, allegedly a beagle but there was definitely a neighbor with a basset hound somewhere in the family tree. He had a good long life, died in 2009. I still have his puppy photo on the fridge.
