For an FPS, I don't think some people realize how powerful it is to have a combination of having your left hand move your character on a stick and right hand for aiming. Oh, and just imagine Mario Maker or Mario Paint!

I thought the parts the joycon connect into were just for the wrist strap. Never occurred to me that they were hinting at them being used as mice. Why would you need two mice? I think this might be the Switch 2 version of the IR sensor that will be used by like one game.

I just hope that (outside minigames and unique uses like WarioWare might use) it's always an option and never a requirement. I'll always use a controller over a mouse.

Ok, that's a point. Still, mouse-based games are nothing new. I hope that won't be the Switch 2's big new feature because Nintendo strives on innovation and while that's new for one of their consoles, it would hardly lead to new innovative games.

Not only that, imagine the possibilities that it opens. A fun game that you play with two mouses, or one that you play with one mouse in one hand and the joycon in the other? Nintendo can do a lot of fun stuff with it

They did call it “Switch 2”. Bigger innovation probably would’ve meant it’d be given a name of its own. Sometimes they need to improve a great idea until the next one comes along rather than forcing things. NES => SNES, PS1 => PS2 (looking externally), the DS variants, etc… all iterative & great.

It looks like there is an optical sensor on the joycon just above the console connector. They did give the controllers tails and race them across the surface, so it looks like they will have mouse capabilities.
