A new Sony patent would allow players the ability to tap to pay on their controller with a credit card or phone, opening yet another path to purchase. https://bit.ly/47gOdFs

Ok, am i the only one who doesn't think this is inherently that bad? Like, all this ultimately does is cut out the middle man of typing in the card with a controller. Plus, there is the possibility it could be a pretty standard NFC reader like phones which could be handy for emulating TTL games

Also, potentially being able to tap without saving the card data could be useful for families with kids making it so they have to get their parent's actual card to buy anything. Like, idk, i dont see the issue here frankly

WTF is the point of this besides making them look greedy & weird. I haven't been on PSN in over 10 years, but I'm assuming you have to sign in to your account to purchase & your account will have your payment options on file, why would you need the controller to scan your CC or phone?

How does this in any way make them look greedy? Also, imagine you get a new card. Instead of going the back way and adding it on your phone or typing with the controller, you can just tap the new card and its all there.

New card that you'd only have to enter details for once. Just deal with the hassle, it's one time. It makes them look greedy because it is offering easier access to pay for things that aren't necessary. This speeds up the process and gives players less time to make an informed decision before paying

Thats.... No?????? When your card is on yoru system, it functionally cannot get easier to buy something short of sony doing shit that could actually get them in legal trouble. Your phone can do exactly this right now (if the app lets you, amazon does ik). You're reaching like crazy.
