i feel like people are missing that he is trying to reclaim the concept of secure borders from xenophobic fascist lunatics what I think he could do better is note that the migrant influx pre-Trump 2 was not a problem for public safety; the issue is lack of pathways to legal status for migrants

You cannot "reclaim" a fascist position without condoning fascist ideology. The "secure borders" rhetoric creates a problem that doesn't exist. Borders aren't real. The uncountable murders committed to protect that fantasy are. Taking over the fascist playbook always strengthens the fascists.
