The Trump administration wants you to believe ICE detention is about "public safety" but AP’s investigation found more than 300 documented cases of medical neglect in ICE detention facilities—and reporters say that's likely only a fraction of the real number.

apnews.comFrom festering infections to untreated cancer, ICE detainees across the US describe medical neglectImmigrant detainees across at least 33 states allege in court documents that the government is failing to provide them with adequate medical care.

At the same time, the number of people in ICE custody has nearly doubled, growing from roughly 40,000 to more than 75,000 in just one year. And as detention has expanded, so has the human cost. Here's the result: ICE detention is now deadlier than it has been in two decades.

Since the start of Trump's second term, 51 people have died in detention, with suicides reaching record levels. That’s on top of the more than 100,000 children ripped from their parents since last January - our taxpayer dollars are being weaponized to tear families apart.

Even when courts step in, people can still be denied care. A California judge ordered ICE to get a man showing signs of prostate cancer evaluated by a specialist. Records show it never happened.

These are just the inhuman conditions we know about - and the Trump regime is actively blocking basic oversight. DHS gutted and then shut down the Office of the Immigration Detention Ombudsman—the office that investigated complaints of neglect.

It’s about cruelty. It’s always been about cruelty and regardless of what they like to “wink, wink” say (as if we were as stupid as they are) it’s quite openly been about cruelty. They think they’re showing us all that they are so strong they can brutalize anyone with impunity.
