In our latest for @theglobeandmail.com, @publicpubics.bsky.social and I summarize the issue of 🍁debanking analyzed in our new report: Account Closed Without Notice www.theglobeandmail.com/opinion/arti...

we have plenty of anecdotal reports of debanking - it makes life much more difficult for those who suffer it!

one clear reason 🌽/SWers are targeted for debanking is conflation of their incomes with harmful and criminal activities - a classification partly resulting from Canada's ambiguous 'Nordic Model'

We deserve full decrim in 🍁, and mechanisms to better protect financial access and inclusion! Pay attention to how these banking institutions treat SWers. It's a strong predictor of how they'll treat everyone in the future.

huge thanks to @mskatesinclaire.bsky.social for speaking so compellingly on the experience of debanking 👏
