This is how we get change. The majority of people aren't happy with the current car-dominated public spaces we all suffer in. At the same time most people think that most of the other people are happy with it. This is what's known as an illusory consensus effect.

This is a powerful block to meaningful change. Social media rage algorithms also feed into this, altho' this effect is part of human psychology & existed long B4 socials, but FB & shitter certainly don't help.
