i dont like the term "indie" anymore for talking about anything that isn't development resources because you're putting garten of banban and a game like GRIS in the same bracket and if you do that unironically i want to kill you with my bare hands

I feel like the main issue is that people take indie as a sign of quality or have certain expectations, when really, it's just about the size and/or budget of the team, and it's a pretty broad scope. I also think a lot of "AA" games are referred to as Indie, so it's confusing and lost it's meaning.

Valid and I sometimes at this point actually stop myself when I mention the term because I wonder almost now if it's a fair descriptor. Budget and scope of projects differ, number of team members, etc. It makes me wonder like "so can I call [x] studio indie anymore?"

imo "indie" is bordering on being a buzzword my hottest take apparently is that deltarune is not an indie game. It has many more resources at its disposal than something made by a solo dev, it's given a hell of a lot of attention by players and popular figures like sakurai. How is that indie?
