For most of my life, there has been discussion in Quebec to separate from the rest of Canada, including from my own relatives. There were 2 provincial referendums that were defeated at margins too close for comfort, if I'm being honest.

If I'm being open and honest, it turns my stomach every time I hear of "Quebec Nationalism" or a "Sovereign Quebec". I feel sick, and then my blood starts to boil.
Then talks from Alberta wanting to separate, and they'll hold a referendum, on whether or not to go ahead and have a referendum. Polls indicate that the separation movement is a loud minority.
What bothers me the most, aside from these two provinces wanting to leave Canada, is the reports that the leaders of these movements have either sought or had meetings with members of the Trump Regime (I refuse to call it an Administration).
First, I wholeheartedly think this is treason! Separation movement is bad enough, seeking foreign help from a megalomaniac who has designs on making all of North America part of the USA is independence suicide. I'll get back to that in a moment.
Do you honestly think you'll be better off as citizens in an independent nation of either Alberta or Quebec? Assuming other nations recognize your independence, that's the first hurdle. Then there's your ability to travel, how much power of movement will your passport hold?
How about currency? Print your own? National defence? Any CAF base and equipment is CANADIAN FEDERAL, it leaves when you do. There are a number of other benefits that you take for granted as being part of Canada that will disappear.
CPP is one of the largest, global investors. If you're getting or planning to receive it, that too will go away. Your Provincial Pension plan is all you'll have. Good luck.
Then there's international businesses who chose to operate in your respective provinces. Quebec, you seem to have forgotten that many of them started making plans to leave because of the uncertainty. Get ready for that to start again.
Businesses want and need stability to plan and grow. Independent start up nations are anything but stable. Which brings us to trade with other nations.
You no longer have the collective clout of negotiating trade as you did when the population was 41 million and resources from other regions of Canada were included. To say nothing of the industries that left your province for more stability.
All those trade agreements that Canada negotiated; gone. You start from scratch. It'll be "tough sledding" and that's from countries who don't have hostile intent. Let's talk about the elephant South of the border.
Whether or not the separatist movement got help from the USA or not will have a large say in how long you remain a "Sovereign Nation". Here's where we get back to independence suicide.

If the separatist movement got Trump help, he will crush your economy with tariffs until you become the 51st and 52nd states.
Alberta, you bitch that Ottawa is unfair and wrongly think your wealth is being distributed to the 9 other provinces and 3 territories. As a State, you'll have equalization with 50 other states - ask California
Quebec, you currently enjoy the PRIVILEGE of having a say in immigration to Quebec. You enjoy the PRIVILEGE of language laws that protect your heritage. Get swallowed up by the USA, make no mistake, you WILL be swallowed up, and those 2 privileges you enjoy in Canada are gone, history.
