i don’t like how discord did the thing and we were all against the thing but now it feels like no one is fighting the thing anymore and i think that’s depressing

It's very much a case of "I'm not sure what I can even do to fight it" at this point. I've been unsubbed from Nitro since the last time they tried this shit, and that's as much power as I have, really, short of yelling at them online, which doesn't seem to accomplish anything against them.

i already cancelled nitro, im not sure what else i can do personally. i could yell at them on social media but that sounds exhausting and unproductive

Every major corporate entity in the US has picked up that if you get public backlash for trying to explode puppies, just wait six months and try it again, and again, and again until people are too exhausted to fight back like the first time. This is also a form of psychological warfare btw.

i get that discord has all of our chats and friends essentially held hostage due to switching costs, i just wish things were different and that the web wasn’t heading down this road. The meta lawsuit isn’t helping

Oh that. Wait I thought that wasn’t implemented yet. Is that a thing that was already done? Regardless, it’s definitely still getting pushback šŸ˜…

Unfortunately the thing doesn’t have a clear visible easy win like Sonic’s movie design; Privacy is constantly under attack
