A colleague asked me if a change I sent for review was "you, or AI" and I was very happy because whilst I used AI to help me debug, plan and impl, I worked hard to make sure I understood the change deeply and got it authored exactly how I want (via prompt + manual tweaks). This is the goal, folks.

(context is important here, obviously we all have vibe coded side projects or prototypes where this isn't important) but for "proper" work, my barrier is "this CL is just like how I would have manually done it and I have the same level of understanding"

it’s funny, I’m hearing the reverse from lots of folks: “for my side project I make sure the code is exactly like I want it. but for work? they told me to use lotsa AI and somebody else is going to change it again anyway.”
