But I wonder if that comes from having a better design in mind beforehand. If their AI generated code would be spaghetti because their design is spaghetti to begin with.

I think some of it comes from the fact you played and experimented with AI a lot in private, so you picked up on what parts of code it does well and what it doesn't do well, so you naturally "fix" the issues it has and only look at the code that you didn't HAVE to fix.
