i am quite weirded out by people who have entirely ignored BDS for a year now using the word boycott when describing their feelings towards playstation because of physical games

Felt the same when I heard about a retailer boycotting selling GTA6 because of the code in the box. Like, isn't there something more important you should be boycotting, if you really are just going to boycott stuff like THAT?

Not trying to infantilize him, but I legitimately think that Arlo either isn't aware of the boycotts or aware of their importance. For instance, I almost never see anyone bring up BDS on Twitter in the past year. Arlo is pretty progressive & would normally support this kind of thing.

Not knowing IS a choice made possible by the privilege of not having to care about anyone outside your narrow worldview. It's not even close to a valid excuse and trying to apologize for this behavior is a terrible look

Yeah, the overton window on what is "progressive" has really shifted if you can be progressive and also not know anything about how the sausage you're selling gets made.

I mean, he's an adult. He can read. It has been covered on sites (though yes unfortunately not enough). There's a deep incuriousity to gaming YouTube that fits more what I'm saying. Which is not even "he should talk boycotts" but... this week alone there was a lot of worse gaming news.
