This is correct, so I'd really appreciate it if you took me seriously when I said the problem here is that the value of labor, all human labor, not just desk jobs, because we're going to get useful robots soon too, is going to zero and if you have a socialist bone in your body we need to organize.

sounds wise but even this framing is a year out of date. people are talking almost exclusively about what they're doing with LLMs *right now*, and on top of that, what they're doing right now is exactly what the most hypebrained shill said would happen. so this is wrong about both now and a year ago

Note that this doesn't need to be literally imminent for us to need to organize right now. Even if this was a twenty years away concern, that means we need to organize right now. Unfortunately I do not think this is a twenty years away concern.

Organize to what end? This is always my question. Tell me what you think the point of this organizing should be.m, because if the answer isn’t, “we should utilize automation to break capitalism’s back so none of us have to work even 20 hrs a week doing shit we hate to live well,” I’m not down.

Karl Marx is correct so long as you actually have a path to automating all the labor, and for most of history we didn't so it made sense to be a capitalist to grow the economy and get the automation but now we do have that path so we should do the immortal luxury gay space communism thing.

The problem highlighted here shows how Marx is correct even now. Why is it that everyone loses out once they can't sell their labor anymore? Its because capitalists have the money to buy the means of production, all the inputs, AND the money to buy their own consumption goods made from the process.

No one else in society has by rights the ability to live without working, the bourgeois could already be disabled and it wouldn't matter one bit. Capitalist consumption is already a really big problem today as its what's been behind the lack of investment under neoliberalism.
