If the company that shipped Skull & Bones is telling you that they canceled a game for quality reasons, it's easy to assume that that game must've been pretty fucking bad.

Remember how it was going to release in January 2021 And then they delayed it like a month before release And then they restarted it entirely in May 2022 What the fuck happened here

yeah I don't assume there's some hidden gem that Ubisoft buried so much as like... how do you get to the point where you're canceling games that people think are coming out this quarter lol

Insane how they had to have a complete do-over of the PoP remake like 5 years ago weeks before it was supposed to release too.

as if they wouldn't have cancelled that game if they weren't on the hook for tax credits, or so the legends say.

Not at all. We have seen enough to know that they could have been great games with an unclear grade of economic success. Pretty sure that games like Valiant Hearts, Immortal Phoenix, Child of Light or Mario Rabbits would have been cancelled nowadays

What other word should they use? Many game projects are cancelled for "quality reasons" or not meeting some theoretical bar of "quality." That can be almost anything. It's just a generic statement and I don't believe it should be a specific reference against anything else.

Tbh, didn't they basically have the legal obligation to release S&B due to some sort agreement with thr Singapore government?
