A big AI objection around coding has been "If it increases productivity so much, where's all the new software!?" While I'm not sure it's filtered down into consumer-facing stuff quite yet, I feel just inundated with new, ambitious software on a daily basis these days

I think it’s a bit pretty fair question given the amount of money and hype. Years have passed, and few visible, tangible, public examples exist—especially ones that aren’t somewhat poor.

Sorry, I'm not saying it's not a fair question here. I've been curious about this myself. I could see a lot of people re-building their own vibe-coded agent harness but not much else I'm saying that, for me, this has started to materially change a lot in the past month or two

To clarify, I'm not saying the question isn't very justified, especially in contrast to the waves up "This changes everything!" hype I'm saying that in the past couple of months the underlying shift is coming int focus, at least from my position in the software ecosystem

Developers are definitely benefitting from the lift of prompt based automation. Product builders are too. I’m sure of that. But most of the hype has been laughable at times — most AI fan bois don’t seem capable of being discerning when it comes to quality

I vacillate back and forth between being more annoyed by AI boosters or AI critics depending on the day 😅 Current annoyance at boosters is the "Just let the agents handle oncall" marketing push 😬
