work let me open source my meme library. big thank you to Antithesis for building a property testing engine called Hegel, without which i would not have put in nearly this much effort to produce something halfway decent.

there wasn‘t exactly a burning need for a new property testing library in Haskell but the allure of the name and also the absurdity of the v1 approach where it spawned a Python subprocess & communicated with it via CBOR over stdin/stdout was too good.

This sir is beautiful and aweful at the same time ;) I've done something similar a few years ago in the first implementation / PoC of hackage.haskell.org/package/PyF, for each formatting element, I was calling python in a TH splice... It was fun.

TIL about CBOR. At work we have huge json objects stored in S3 for historical reasons and I will test if encoding that in CBOR would save time (and memory) when decoding.
