I get the virtue of this narrative (and where it's aimed), but as an indie it's demoralizing to be expected to cultivate a parasocial relationship before gamers will feel guilt about stealing from you. I wish just making the thing was enough for people to value it, you know? It's already so hard.

I mean that ain't what I'm suggesting at all. This took essentially no effort from me and I don't say it as a recommendation, more just a rumination on how a lot of folks think about piracy wrong

Yeah, "piracy isn't a lost sale," obvs. But all the "piracy is good, actually" logic is people (ironically) platforming market economics, marketing, and supply/demand priorities, when what we should be doing is destroying capitalism altogether.

Like, the good thing about *doing piracy* is that it lets (some) people opt-out of capitalism, which is incredible and unimpeachably beneficial (for those same some), but all the arguments *for* piracy as a social driver are extremely pro-capitalism. The irony is utterly baffling to me.
