For as long as I can remember, I’ve seen regular credible reports on the many and varied benefits of immigration and very few on the drawbacks, and those don’t stand up to scrutiny.

This is what I meant when I said the claimed drawbacks don't stand up to scrutiny — under scrutiny they invariably boil down to "we don't like funny hats."
