Microsoft Authenticator is the new Clipper, but somehow worse. In the name of security you spend your working life scrabbling for your phone and typing in numbers. The box to tick every day for the unmet promise of remembering you is a particularly nice touch. “Nice” in this case meaning “sadistic”.

I decided today that at some point everyone is going to get so sick of spending their lives logging in to things that aren’t worth the effort that we’ll just throw up our hands and go back to subsistence farming, or scrabbling for berries. A conundrum for future archaeologists.
