I think there's so many other second/third order effects of agentic AI coding tools that have barely been explored. What does it mean to 'increase your productivity' 50% as a developer? I can barely keep up with code review as it is!

I keep getting whiplash between hyperbolic takes on AI — the developers who are convinced their jobs are gone because it's so good, mixed with the non-devs who are outraged because it clearly has no value, to people 100% sure it cannot be stopped destroying humanity, to– Seeking the cold takes

What does it mean if i can throw every random idle thought at an LLM and have it churn away on it in the background, at practically zero cost to you? There's a big attractive nuisance here - here's 9 different tasks I have in flight at the moment. Most I will not pick back up!!!

Ask any developer and they'll probably say that reading and reviewing code is not their favourite part of the job. What happens when you make that the *only* part?

Exactly this. "50% more productive" usually just means 50% more code to review, and review is already the bottleneck. The second-order effect nobody talks about: without automated quality filtering at generation time, faster output just creates a bigger review backlog.

The code review bottleneck is the honest answer nobody talks about. 50% more code written means 50% more review debt - the productivity ceiling shifts, not disappears.
