An addendum to this story: These two military commission lawyers just got a six-month reprieve. An aide to Secretary Hegseth, in a memo this week, delayed until July 1, 2027 the downgrading of the two leaders’ roles from one-star to colonel or Navy captain. Not New Year’s Day.
