This is exactly what the rest of corporate America is doing right now: buying genAI licenses and telling employees to figure out use cases after the fact. There's an overall terror of being left behind if some other company magically discovers a way to use genAI that actually saves time.

My former dayjob started doing this four years ago and, surprise surprise, people couldn't find ways to save enough time to justify the cost. From what I've heard, that's the way it's going in publishing land, too.

You nailed it. The AI movement is all riding on trying to realize overpromised investments in any way they can. That and FOMO with competition.
