DIY is never really about saving time, but it does save you money. I may be all-in for less than $30k compared to a turnkey installation of $70k or more (since even this Studio Home doesn't include proper roof insulation for Minnesota winters)

I think for folks who can't or don't want to do DIY, this is fine -- materials-wise, it's a wash although mine are better (Rockwool vs fiber batts). It's not a high performance prefab, it does the job and no more. And you'd get it professionally installed and assembled.

The cost is higher than what it quotes too because that assumes you pay it all in cash. Practically, you'd get financing and then you'll pay interest on top of the project cost over time, Studio Home quotes 7.25% at excellent credit with 10 year term. That's over $26k. So call it ~$100k all-in.

This is why at the retreat last weekend, I was talking with someone about how expensive the build was and they just laughed 😂 They were like, this would be over $100k normally, $30k is nothing! 🔥 Well, it's expensive for me hahaha. But they are right, home building is expensive.
